Pictures tell the story

These pictures tell you all you need to know concerning the out of control militarization of the police in the United States of America.

You know things are seriously getting out of hand when your police force is being compared to the Chinese army.

Ferguson bullshit

Not indicting a crooked cop who took the law into his own hands and gunned down an unarmed teenager is wrong.

This shouldn’t happen in the 21st century… I’m ashamed of this.

Oblidge him!

After giving them multiple chances to stop breaking the law, the Chino Valley School District is being sued by the Freedom From Religion Foundation:

School board meetings open with a prayer, and often include bible readings and proselytizing by board members. Board President James Na injects Christianity into many of his official statements, FFRF’s legal complaint notes. At one typical meeting, Na “urged everyone who does not know Jesus Christ to go and find Him,” and closed with a reading of Psalm 143.

Students often attend the meetings to receive awards, speak about issues affecting their schools, attend disciplinary hearings and do performances. Student attendance is mandatory in some instances, and a student representative is a member of the board.

Courts have consistently held that organized prayer in the public schools is unconstitutional, the complaint charges. Two federal appellate courts, the Third and Sixth Circuits, have specifically held school board prayer unconstitutional.

Women are not objects, stop covering them!

This picture completely disgusts me.

Men put tarps over all sorts of thing they consider to be their property… but one of these pictures doesn’t belong here.

This is one of many examples of how women are treated by religion as lesser than men. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Women are not property; they are people. People who should be respected as equal individuals.

New Poem: Super Powers

Now to the flip side… this poem (actually a Sonnet) was written less than a month ago. I actually wrote this on my birthday. I was caught up in a moment of absolute inspiration and wrote not only this poem, but several others as well.

I share this with you to prove that my ongoing affair with Poetry hasn’t ended.

Not yet at least…

Poem: The Rain Must Fall

I wrote this poem just over 18 years ago. I’ve been writing poetry every since I was 14, which was twenty-five years ago. It’s not something I do a lot of, but when I happen to pick up a pen and write some down, they are heartfelt, sincere and full of emotion.

I plan to write more poems in the coming months. Give me a shout if you’d like to see more poetry posted here on my blog.
