To question Islam for being sexist, racist, homophobic and just outright discriminating to everyone is not racist… it’s being a responsible human being. Lashing someone 50 times a day just for being an atheist is not right. Forcing women to cover their heads and not allow them to speak is sexist and degrading. Executing people for loving someone you don’t approve of is evil and it’s not racist to point out these injustices.
That’s the response many atheists get when we point out a very offensive part of the bible; you’re taking it out of context. What context is there that makes smashing a child’s head against a rock better? There is no context that would make that line any better. Killing children is wrong… even if God asks you to do it.
The problem isn’t that we haven’t read your book… we have. I know more about it than the people who claim to believe it. I’ve also read the Torah as well as parts of the Quaran. Reading them didn’t push me into becoming religious, it only convinced me that being an Atheist was the correct choice.
This is something I always found rather confusing. The story of an all knowing God getting upset about something that he/she/it should have seen coming and did nothing to change it. One of many questions I have concerning this story.
The fact that alleged ‘Good Christians’ are traveling on private planes and live an obscene life of luxury while kids to go bed hungry is evidence of how full of shit they really are regarding their alleged faith.
If I ever get even half that rich, I plan to donate at least 50% of whatever I make to charity to support those less fortunate than myself. The fact that I am making next to nothing and I still find time to donate to charity puts the rich who share nothing to shame.
There are a few virtuous and true things in the Bible. Yes, we should not covet, lie or kill people. Yet there are also lies and wicked and stupid things in that book too. The world is not flat. The sun does not orbit around us, it is the other way around. In other words, we are not the center of the universe.
