It’s Monday! It’s Monday! It’s time once again for Monday School! Another installment of the ‘Rational Corrective To All That Nonsense You Learned Yesterday!
This week, I’m going to tackle an interesting question: Do the Churches as we see them today function as a charity or a business?
This subject came to me because of an event I was invited to last weekend but was unable to attend. Various atheists in the city were invited to attend a conversation that was to take place at an RC Church between their people and some non-believers. The purpose of the event was according to the organizers was to ‘foster mutual understanding and friendship among believers and non-believers through conversation, music and a social gathering’.
I had another great weekend with Ethan and Jonathan… and they were very well behaved despite the fact that pool wasn’t open yet. It needed a bit of a cleaning before I could authorize any jumping in. I also want to get some new water wings for Jon to help him stay above in case he’s still not tall enough, but I’m working on that.
Here is something fun I’ve been doing with the boys, I’ve been using the pillsbury croissant mix and rolling them with hotdogs and cheese to make pigs in a blanket. Jon wasn’t too fond of them, but Ethan ate half of the batch I made. Check them out:
Fighting a self inflicted inflammation is a royal pain in the ass… or eye that is. My first Iritis attack in over six years has proven to be such a pain, a royal one at that, and for that reason use of the internet during that time has been very limited. I haven’t written anything in over a week, especially on this diary and I’ve been suffering from OD withdrawal. While I am not fully recovered, my light sensitivity is improving and I’m able to function in front of a monitor again.
I like surveys and I haven’t posted one in a while, so here goes:
1. When was the last time you went to the bathroom outside?
That would be last summer. Swimming with the boys and I didn’t want to take them out of the pool (kicking and screaming) just so I could pee. So I went behind the shed (where I could till observe them) and peed back there to keep the peace.
2013 is already two months old. That didn’t take long, did it?
Even though it’s my weekend off, I’m going to take Jonathan for the weekend. Just me and the little guy for Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday. Jon is going to have oral surgery to repair some teeth next week and won’t be able to come over for his usual visit. So I’ll take him this weekend before the procedure and then next week I’m going to take Ethan while Jon stays home and recoups with his Mom. This way I’ll be able to give each kid a little one on one attention, and that’s never a bad thing. I don’t mind giving up my weekend, cause more time with the little guys is always welcome.
It was a nice three day weekend with the boys. Taking them on Thursday turned out to be the best move. The storm known as ‘Nemo’ shut down all the schools in the city and would have make getting the boys back to my place a real chore, so I was very happy Leah let me take them a day early. Didn’t take much arm twisting since she got to sleep in an extra morning as well.
